Black Bear Lodge
Black Bear Lodge wrote the book on what it is to be a quintessential “northwoods Wisconsin” resort. Situated on 2,100 feet of shoreline on Little St. Germain Lake, it’s all about the outdoors here. In the warm weather months, fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating and bonfires define the experience, along with biking and golf. There’s a boat launch for guests and boat rentals too. With the first signs of snow, outdoor enthusiasts pack for snowmobiling the famous Bo-Boen Snowmobile Trail, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, even ice skating on the resort’s groomed lake rink. You can purchase snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and park licenses right on-premise. Accommodations range from classic cabins, some with gas-burning fireplaces to more modern lodges with gas fireplaces. Visitors have their choice of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units, each with fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and cable TV (not that you’ll spend much time watching TV). The one amenity that’s consistent across the board – “wow” views of the pristine lake. Wild Bear Grill & Pub, the #1 stop on the Bo-Boen Trail, is open every day and, of course, has a Friday Fish Fry.
