Tom's Burned Down Cafe
Tom's Burned Down Café on Madeline Island is a legendary dive bar that embodies resilience and island spirit. After a fire destroyed the original Leona’s in 1992, owner Tom Nelson continued serving drinks from his car, leading to the birth of Tom’s Burned Down Café. Today, the establishment thrives as a unique open-air venue adorned with eclectic art, hundreds of quirky signs and a lively atmosphere. Only accessible via ferry from Bayfield, the cafe is open seasonally from mid-May through October, offering live music, karaoke and a vibrant community gathering spot.
