Beyond the Score®

With only a single performance, Beyond the Score® at Overture Hall is an absolute must-see. Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring transforms simple ancient folk music from Russia and Lithuania into a perfect storm of rhythm, harmony and melodies unlike any heard before its time, Stravinsky created the biggest scandal in the history of music in 1911. This performance is a two-part production; the first half includes a multimedia presentation starring American Players Theatre actors, visual projections and live musical examples teaching audiences about the work. In the second half, John DeMain ventures straight into the heart of music with a performance of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
